Conference on the theme “Governance for National Prosperity”

Coinciding with the Oath taking ceremony of Newly Elected Council Members, ICAN organized conference on the theme ‘Governance for National Prosperity’ at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, Nepal on 17 July 2018. The Conference was focused on national prosperity and development, a meaningful and effective administration along with participatory, transparent and accountable management to demonstrate real governance.

National Best Presented Annual Report Award Distributed

Coinciding with the oath taking ceremony, the Institute has awarded National Best Presented Annual Report Award for the fiscal year 2016/17. The national BPA Award 2017 has been held under the category of Banking Sector (Private and Public Sector), Financial Sector (Including Development Banks and Finance Companies), Insurance Sector, Public Interest Entity, General Sector, Service Sector, Manufacturing Sector and others. Organizations having their financial statements prepared based on Nepal Financial Reporting Standards (NFRS) and having fulfilled minimum standards were only considered for evaluation and selection.

Oath taking Ceremony of President, Vice-President and Council Members of 8th Council

The oath taking ceremony of President-elect CA. Jagannath Upadhyay (Niraula), Vice President-elect CA. Krishna Prasad Acharya along with newly elected Council Members has taken place at Hotel Annapurna on 17th July, 2018 in Kathmandu. Honourable Auditor General of Nepal Mr. Tanka Mani Sharma (Dangal) in the presence of Chief Guest of the program Honourable Finance Minister of Nepal Dr. Yuba Raj Katiwada, administered the oath to all newly elected Council Members and newly elected President CA. Jagannath Upadhyay (Niraula) and President CA. Jagannath Upadhyay (Niraula) administrated the oath to newly elected Vice President CA. Krishna Prasad Acharya.

Update on US Chapter of ICAN

The “US Chapter of ICAN” has been incorporated with State Corporate Commission Richmond, Virgina, United States of America which was formally inaugurated by President CA. Prakash Jung Thapa on 24 March, 2018. This chapter, along with facilitating social networking platform for ICAN members residing in United States of America will interact with ICAN on matters of professional interest, develop and conduct continuing professional education (CPE) programs, represent ICAN in local professional platform etc.

The principal office of US Chapter of ICAN is established at 3038 Southern Elm Ct, Fairfax, Virginia 22031. Members of the ICAN residing in USA shall become the member of this Chapter.

The Chapter shall be managed by the Managing Committee. Managing Committee as per the necessity, may form the other committees to support in functioning of the Chapter. Managing Committee members shall be  elected for three years at the annual meeting of members which shall be held in November each year.

8th Council Members Elected

Election for 8th Council members amongst the Chartered Accountant members has been conducted on Jestha, 2075 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at Yogambar Banquet, National Trading Limited compound, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.

New Members Welcome & Certificate Presentation Ceremony

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) organized New Member Welcome Program and Certificate Presentation Ceremony at ICAN Building, ICAN Marg, Satdobato, Lalitpur on 3rd June, 2018. The objective of program was to welcome new Chartered Accountant members in the fraternity of members of ICAN and to brief them about the opportunities available in the profession, opportunities to share achievement with their friends and family, meet fellow members and networking, share expectation of each other, find out more about the services and facilities available to members.

Interaction Program on Quality Assurance Review Organized

The Quality Assurance Board (QAB) organized an Interaction Program on Quality Assurance Review (QAR) on 25 May, 2018 at Kathmandu. The Interaction Program was organized to impart the initiatives taken by QAB to ensure quality assurance review of its member’s practice and obtain the feedback and suggestions from members in Practice. Executive Director of the Institute CA. Sanjay Kumar Sinha welcomed the participants.

The interaction program was addressed by Chairman of QAB Mr. Ramesh Raj Satyal and President of the Institute CA. Prakash Jung Thapa.
